Ramblings of Catholic Homeschool life
There is something to say about dedicating the day to something greater than you every day. When our children begin to practice this with us, we can see their soul come alive and their enthusiasm inspires me, the parent to further the mission. Children are closer to God, as an adult these graces from children make us better in more ways than one. My spouse and I find ourselves learning more with and from our kids. Nothing feels more natural than time spent with your family honoring our Lord and creation. Homeschool gives us the freedom to teach our children at their pace in a relaxed atmosphere. It's not always so easy. First you're the parent, then you're the teacher, then school counselor, then PE coach then taxi driver...it's downright crazy making at times. However, as the cliche goes, it's worth it. During those moments I hear my soon to be 4 year old tell her older sibling, "That's not prudent, lets sink about this!" Or when my 6 year old wants to "problem solve with a family meeting," I find myself smiling inwardly and outwardly. As the parent you are planting seeds and we don't always see them growing right before our eyes, even though they are. Homeschool life is not easy, Catholic homeschool life is that added challenge that enriches my family further. Daily mass is part of our weekly routine. It wasn't as first, but as my children became used to the routine they began to pick up things in mass, lessons from the Gospel and what it means to live an ordered life for God. These teachings blend with school and education. Giving more of ourselves to our children has been more rewarding for me than my previous career life. Thanks be to God for it all, including the hardships that bring Him glory.
